Founded 1852 as Agricultural Institute in Pantelimon, reorganized 1867 as Central School of Agriculture and Silviculture located in Herăstrău. The Silviculture department became independent as The Agricultural School of Herăstrău 1893. Reorganized several times and became Agricultural Institute of Bucharest 1948, named after Nicolae Bălcescu 1952, University of Agricultural Sciences 1992 and acquired present title 1995. A State Institution.
