ポワティエ大学

Founded 1970 under the 1968 law reforming higher education and replacing the former Université de Poitiers, founded 1431 by Bull of Pope Eugene IV, and confirmed by letters patent granted by Charles VII, 1432. The University was suppressed by the Revolution and replaced by Faculties of Law, Letters, and Science and a School of Medicine of the Université de France. Reconstituted as University 1896. A State institution enjoying academic and financial autonomy, operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and financed by the State.
